2-color Jacquard (Fair isle)

Topic: Knitting finishing techniques

Description:
Two-color stranded knitting is known as Fair Isle in English, taking its name from the island of Fair Isle in the Shetlands. Also called stranded knitting, it is a traditional Scottish technique used to create colorful, generally geometric patterns by using two colors of yarn per row, with the unused strands carried across the back of the knitting. The term 'jacquard' in English-speaking countries refers to color-block work done with bobbins of yarn hanging behind the knitting. To avoid confusion, we will use the term 'Fair Isle' here.
During this class, we will cover:
• The difference between Fair Isle and jacquard
• Various methods for knitting with two colors
• Dominant colors
• How to manage your tension
• How to secure floating strands
• How to steek your knitting – yes, really 😉
Instructions to prepare for the class
👉 Please bring:
- Colored yarn
- Needles corresponding to the yarn, either double-pointed or circular (Magic loop)
- Crochet hook corresponding to the yarn
- Stitch markers
- Sharp scissors
- Note-taking materials

Topic: Knitting Finishing (Basics)
Hours: 10:00 AM–1:00 PM • Tricoton Shop
Description :
The finishing touches on a knitted piece make all the difference to its quality. They can ruin it or, conversely, enhance it. In this course, we will cover the basic techniques to ensure a flawless finish for your knitting.
During this course we will cover:
• The importance of selvedge stitching for preparing your finishing touches
• Different ways to change threads and how to tuck them in as invisibly as possible
• Different ways to bind off stitches
• How to avoid holes when decreasing stitches
• How to pick up stitches correctly
• Why and how to block your work at the end
👉 What to bring:
- A project in progress (sweater, vest, accessories…) or a simple 10cm x 10cm swatch still on your needles to practice the different methods
- Your usual needles and accessories
- Something to take notes on
This basic course is followed by a more advanced course (embellishments) where we will cover how to embellish your knits with different hems, advanced cast-ons and bind-offs, crochet or embroidery.

Description: Have you started a top-down project in our Raglan or Contiguous Method classes, but still have questions? Would you like to check your calculations, correct a detail, resolve a technical hurdle, or simply solidify what you’ve learned?
This Follow-up class is a support session where you will revisit the key elements of raglan and contiguous constructions, adjust your current project, and gain the confidence to continue independently.
It’s the perfect time to ask your questions, refine your technical choices, and ensure your knitting is headed in the right direction.
Class objectives:
- Consolidate the basics of top-down raglan and the contiguous method
- Verify and adjust stitch calculations
- Correct or refine the construction of your current project
- Understand and resolve any difficulties encountered
- Gain independence and confidence for the rest of your project
👉 What to bring:
- Your current project from the Top-down raglan and/or Contiguous method classes.
No new materials are needed: this class is dedicated to follow-up, consolidation, and personalized troubleshooting.
Top-down basics (raglan)

Description: Have you fallen in love with a yarn without finding the perfect pattern? Would you like to recreate a design without following instructions step-by-step? Or simply create something using what you already have at home and better understand your
patterns?
In this class, Baccarha will introduce you to the fundamentals of top-down knitting (knitting from the top down, seamless) and share her best knitting tips. You will leave with your project started and the tools to continue confidently at home.
What you will learn
- Understand the basics of raglan and round yoke construction
- Execute short rows and adjustments
- Design and structure your project
- Place and use stitch markers
- Calculate the number of stitches to cast on
- Master the magic loop technique
Instructions to prepare for the class
- Choose a yarn from your stash (or in-store) that you would like to knit a sweater or cardigan with
- Create a 10 cm x 10 cm gauge swatch using needles suitable for your chosen yarn
- Optional: bring a pattern from a catalogue that you would like to recreate
👉 Please bring: your gauge swatch, your corresponding needles, and something to take notes with
Result: At the end of the class, you will have started your top-down raglan project, understood the construction basics, and gained the independence to continue with confidence.

Description: Have you fallen in love with a yarn without finding the perfect pattern? Would you like to recreate a design without following instructions step-by-step? Or simply create with what you already have at home and better understand your patterns?
👉 If the raglan method doesn't suit you or if you would like to broaden your knowledge, this class is for you!
Baccarha will help you discover the basics of the contiguous method, another approach to top-down (seamless) knitting, and will share valuable tips for adapting your projects. You will leave with the start of your project and a new technique in your knitting toolkit.
What you will learn
- Understand contiguous top-down construction
- Place and use stitch markers effectively
- Calculate the starting stitches based on your yarn and project
- Work seamlessly, with ease
- Explore the differences and advantages compared to the classic raglan
Instructions to prepare for the class
- Choose a yarn from your stash (or in-store) that you would like to knit a sweater or cardigan with
- Make a 10 cm x 10 cm gauge swatch with needles suitable for your chosen yarn

Ensemble, nous apprendrons à apprivoiser Ravelry, à utiliser ses nombreux filtres pour dénicher le modèle idéal, à comprendre les différentes épaisseurs de fil et à trouver des alternatives aux fils proposés dans les patrons.

Description: A fun and unique little project! Come create your own two-tone, three-tone, or multicolored bandana , incorporating personal symbolism through color. This course will guide you in harmoniously combining hues, exploring new textures, and adding a unique touch with decorative embroidery. The perfect opportunity for a quick, enjoyable, and creative project.
What you will learn
- Create a personalized bandana with your choice of colors
- Working short rows in the German style
- Create an integrated i-cord
- Hide the threads in the border for a flawless finish

- A set of 3.5 mm knitting needles

The materials to make your first bandana will be available in the shop for 10.- in addition to the course fee. (2 mini skeins of Accrofils yarn)
